Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar storage technologies Trepic, Inc. ("Trepic") uses on trepic.co, trepic.app, and trepicstories.com (the "Services"), and your choices about them. It supplements our Privacy Policy.
1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device. It lets the site remember things across pages and visits — for example, that you're logged in. Local storage and session storage are similar browser-level mechanisms.
Cookies set by the site you're visiting are called first-party cookies. Cookies set by an embedded service from another domain are third-party cookies. Cookies are also categorized by purpose:
- Strictly necessary — required for the site to function (e.g., session, security, load balancing). These cannot be switched off.
- Functional — remember your preferences (e.g., language, your cookie-banner choice).
- Analytics — help us understand how the site is used.
- Marketing / advertising — used to deliver or measure ads, often by third parties.
2. Cookies and similar storage we use
The public marketing site (trepic.co) is intentionally lean. We do not run Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, LinkedIn Insight, TikTok Pixel, or any other third-party analytics or advertising tag.
| Name | Type | Category | Purpose | Duration | Where set |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
trepic_admin |
First-party HTTP cookie (HttpOnly, Secure, SameSite=Lax, HMAC-signed) | Strictly necessary | Authenticates Trepic staff into the admin dashboard | 24 hours | Only on /admin/ after staff login — never set for public visitors |
trepic_cookie_consent_v1 |
First-party localStorage entry |
Functional / strictly necessary | Stores your cookie-banner choice so we don't show the banner repeatedly | Until you clear browser storage | All public pages |
That's it. No analytics. No advertising. No social-media tracking pixels.
If we add any analytics or marketing tags in the future, we will update this page and update the cookie banner so you can choose whether to allow them before they are set.
3. Third-party cookies on the Services
We do not knowingly load third-party cookies on the public marketing site. A small number of third-party assets (Google Fonts, Unsplash images, the Babel/React CDN at unpkg.com) are requested over the network when you visit. These services do not, to our knowledge, set persistent cookies on font/image/script delivery, but they receive your IP address and basic request metadata as a normal part of the HTTP request, governed by their own privacy policies.
4. Cookies in our emails
Marketing and transactional emails sent through our provider (Resend) include a small tracking pixel and may rewrite outbound links so that we can see whether the email was opened and which links were clicked. This is not a cookie on the Services, but it is a similar tracking technology. You can disable image loading in your email client to suppress the pixel, and you can ask us to stop tracking your email engagement at any time at privacy@trepic.co.
5. Your choices
5.1 Cookie banner
On your first visit, our cookie banner asks for your choice. You can:
- Accept all — allow all categories. Today, this is functionally the same as the strictly-necessary baseline because we do not currently set analytics or marketing cookies.
- Reject all — only strictly-necessary storage will be used.
- Customize — toggle individual categories.
Your choice is stored in localStorage under the key trepic_cookie_consent_v1. To change your choice later, click the button below or clear your browser storage for trepic.co and reload the page.
5.2 Browser controls
All major browsers let you block all cookies, block third-party cookies, delete existing cookies and storage, or be prompted before a cookie is set. Search your browser's help for "manage cookies" — the controls are typically under Settings → Privacy.
5.3 Global Privacy Control (GPC)
We honor the Global Privacy Control signal as a valid opt-out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law. We do not currently engage in such sharing in any case.
5.4 Do Not Sell or Share
California residents (and anyone else) may submit a Do Not Sell or Share request at /dnsmpi/.
6. Updates
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date reflects the most recent change.
